BMW ActiveHybrid 7
2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 Reviews

2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is a full size premium luxury sedan, which is offered in extended wheelbase 750Li and 750i trim levels. Standard technology features on 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 750i include 16-speaker surround sound system stereo CD/DVD system with auxiliary input jack, digital music storage and HD radio, Bluetooth, hard drive based voice activated navigation system with real-time traffic updates, iDrive electronics controller, back-up camera and hybrid information displays in iDrive display and instrument cluster. The engine is teamed up with eight-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive system.

The 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 comes with standard safety features such as antilock brakes, front head active restraints, stability control, side curtain airbags, front seat side airbags and front knee airbags.
The 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 represents the pinnacle of cutting edge technology, luxury and comfort of BMW.
The 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is a new hybrid variant of the 7 Series sedan.

The 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is a large luxury sedan available in 750i and extended-wheelbase 750Li trims. The Driver Assistance package adds a blind-spot warning system, a lane-departure warning system and automatic high beams. In addition to the options listed above, the 750Li is eligible for a Luxury Rear Seating package, which includes power rear seats with cooling and massaging functions.

The hybrid 7 Series features a gasoline/electric hybrid power plant. The electric motor (powered by a trunk-mounted lithium-ion battery) adds 20 hp and 155 lb-ft to the mix. Like all 7 Series models, the 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 also features the Driving Dynamics Control system, which has four driver-selectable settings for shift response, throttle response, shock absorber firmness, power-steering assist and stability control.

Standard safety features include antilock brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, front knee airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. Available rear seat heating and even a massage feature should satisfy the most demanding of passengers.

The good: BMW's hybrid system adds significant power to the 2011 ActiveHybrid 7, while making it the most fuel-efficient 7-series model. An active suspension gives the car excellent handling. The hybrid system's idle stop feature shuts off power steering and doesn't work well in stop-and-go traffic.

Mild hybrid
As the ActiveHybrid 7's hybrid system can't fully drive the car under electric power, it should be considered a mild hybrid system. Like Honda's Integrated Motor Assist system, BMW's hybrid system adds boost under acceleration and lets the engine shut down at stop lights. The hybrid system handles the tasks of those components.

2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
The all-new BMW 650i Convertible fulfils the wishes of the most discerning automotive enthusiast as The Ultimate Driving Machine with groundbreaking luxury and crisp good looks. BMW has opened a new chapter in the tradition of open-top cars. The 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible will go on sale in the Spring of 2011 in the United States. Final pricing, options, and packages will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
With the BMW 6-Series Coupe Concept debuting at the 2010 Los Angeles International Auto Show as its backdrop, BMW announced the production-ready 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible. In the premium convertible market, the 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible presents a convincing case with the most advanced chassis technology and most innovative comfort, infotainment and safety features.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
A sweeping hood, aft-set passenger compartment, long wheelbase and muscular profile embody the hallmark proportions of a BMW Convertible. The new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible combines these features with a classic soft-top roof with flying buttress design. Powerfully contoured surfaces of its lines promise the anticipated BMW driving experience. The luxurious ambience of the interior is highlighted by a driver-oriented cockpit which wraps the front and rear passengers in a feeling of aesthetic security. Nowhere is the high-class functionality of the interior underlined more prominently than in the redesigned freestanding 10.2" Central Display of the standard iDrive control system.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
The 4.4-liter V-8 engine develops a maximum 400 hp between 5,500 and 6,400 rpm, and makes peak torque of 450 lb-ft between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm (preliminary). This unique "reverse-flow" engine, whose turbochargers are positioned in the V-area between the cylinder banks, produces an instantaneous and sustained wave of power, making it an energetic delight for the enthusiast driver. Instantaneous power and torque are the stand-out features of the V-8 engine available of the new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible. The engine combines sporting character with outstanding smoothness, linear power delivery, and exceptional efficiency. The engine can be paired with either BMW's new 8-speed Sport Automatic gearbox or BMW's traditional 6-speed manual transmission, quite popular with North American enthusiasts.
The 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible completes the sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds with the manual transmission (4.9 seconds with the 8-speed automatic), and top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. This engine also boasts extraordinary efficiency for a model in its output class. EPA figures will be available closer to the on-sale date in 2011.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
The 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission fitted to the new BMW 650i Convertible boasts a perfect combination of speed, flexibility, sportiness, and efficiency. Its minimal torque converter slip and rapid gear changes set it apart. An innovative gear set configuration allows this transmission to offer eight gears, optimizing the sprinting power yet allowing the driver to save fuel by driving at low revs. Naturally, the driver can choose to select gears manually via shift paddles on the standard Sport leather steering wheel.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
The new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible is the first car in its class that can be equipped with Integral Active Steering. This system combines the Active Steering system for the front axle (available on the previous generation 6-Series Convertible) with a new, steerable rear axle. Precisely harmonized steering angle movements at both axles create a virtual lengthening or shortening of the vehicle's wheelbase, which fosters greater high-speed stability and enhanced maneuverability for parking and city use.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
Like its predecessor, the new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible is the only vehicle in its class with an optional Head-Up Display system. By projecting important information onto the windshield, directly in the driver's line of sight, the Head-Up Display minimizes distraction from the road and traffic. The new-generation system brings a further improvement in display quality: the symbols are projected as three-dimensional graphics and in ultra-clear resolution onto the windshield. Full-color capability makes the road sign symbols even more realistic. At the same time the Head-Up Display is now able to present a wider range of information. Depending on vehicle specification, guidance information supplied by the Navigation system, Check Control messages, status messages from the Lane Departure Warning System and warnings from the BMW Night Vision system can all be shown in the Head-Up Display. The positioning of the messages on the windshield is highly ergonomic, so that drivers are aware of them without having to refocus or take their eyes off the road.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
The new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible is built at the BMW plant in Dingolfing, Germany. Also rolling off the assembly line at the BMW Group's largest production plant are the BMW 7-Series and BMW 5-Series models. The flexible and efficient processes at the plant combine state-of-the-art production technology with a standard of quality defined by meticulous craftsmanship in the manufacture of premium cars configured to customer requirements.

BMW z4 2011 review

2011 BMW z4
For 2011, the BMW Z4 amps up its aggression with the introduction of a new sports-tuned trim and an M Sport Package. The 2011 BMW Z4 is sleek, sexy, luxurious and powerful. For 2011, BMW enhances the Z4’s sports performance with M Sport Packages available for both the BMW Z4 sDrive30i and sDrive35i. Plus, BMW introduces a whole new trim -- the Z4 sDrive35is, which features more power and greater sports handling.
Many of that trim's enhanced handling features are available on the lower trims in a new M Sport package.

The 2011 BMW Z4 is a two-seat retractable-hardtop luxury roadster available in three trim levels that correspond with engine choice: sDrive30i, sDrive35i and sDrive35is.
Standard equipment on the sDrive30i includes 17-inch wheels, adjustable sport driving settings (steering, throttle and automatic transmission if applicable), automatic adaptive xenon headlights, automatic wipers, a fully powered retractable hardtop, cruise control, leatherette premium vinyl upholstery, six-way manually adjustable seats and a sound system that includes a single-CD player, auxiliary audio jack and HD radio. This package includes 18-inch wheels, adaptive suspension dampers, an aerodynamic body kit, increased top speed, a thicker M steering wheel and 10-way manually adjustable sport seats with power bolster adjustment.
The Premium package adds auto-dimming mirrors, power-adjustable seats, BMW Assist telematics, Bluetooth and on the 30i, leather upholstery and automatic climate control. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a dual-clutch seven-speed automated manual is optional. The dual-clutch automated manual is standard. BMW estimates a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds. Estimated fuel economy is 17/24/19.

The long hood and passenger compartment set nearly over the rear wheels remain, but a more traditional BMW front-end sets the tone for the entire car.
The top-of-the-line sDrive35is exterior is distinguished from other Z4s by its more aggressive front bumper styling, which calls to mind the high-performance M3, and a restyled rear bumper.

Ride & Handling
The sDrive35is' natural rotation and overall balance make it a fun track car. The sDrive35is is one of the few production cars I've driven there that managed to hold its own. The low-slung Z4 sDrive35is proved to be a cornering champ, exhibiting little body roll and plenty of grip. Complementing the handling is a wonderful twin-turbo inline-six-cylinder engine that teams with BMW's seven-speed double-clutch transmission. Whether you leave the transmission in Drive or move the gear selector to its Sport mode, which lets the engine rev higher before shifting gears, the sDrive35is has a high-strung quality about it. The engine sounds great, too. The sDrive35is gets an EPA-estimated 17/24 mpg city/highway and takes premium gas.

Convertible Commentary
With its 2009 redesign, the BMW Z4 went from soft-top roadster and hardtop coupe body styles to a retractable-hardtop roadster, which theoretically offers the best of both worlds. The top stows in the upper portion of the trunk, above a movable partition that reserves enough luggage space for a few soft bags when the top is down.
Cruising on the highway with the top down, road noise is replaced by wind noise and general wind buffeting.
The two-seat cabin remains quite cozy, and that might be a problem for especially tall drivers. What's a little unusual is that the sDrive35is doesn't come with standard power seats (they're optional), which many potential customers will likely expect considering the car's starting price — regardless of any weight savings the manual seats may offer.

Safety
Standard safety features include antilock brakes, side-impact airbags, an electronic stability system and roll bars behind each of the seats. As tested with a few options, our sDrive35is was $64,225.

BMW 335i 2011 Reviews

BMW 335i
The BMW 335i Sedan 2011 has a smooth and elegant design. BMW 335i Sedan 2011 has a sunroof, leatherette interior, walnut trim, power front seats, xenon headlights, and automatic climate control on the standard-equipment list

The 2011 BMW 335i is a premium car, and you'll pay a premium price for it. That hurts its Family Friendliness, as does its small trunk and compact dimensions.
The BMW 3 Series is a legend among driving enthusiasts, and justifiably so. The NHTSA crash test results are a bit of a surprise, with the BMW 335i scoring four out of five stars in front driver, front passenger and rollover crash tests. Just remember that Family Friendliness isn't this BMW's forte.

If ever there was a car that defined a market segment, it's the BMW 3 Series. The term "sports sedan" is constantly being bandied about by automakers, but what exactly is a sports sedan and what makes the 3 Series such a great example? Put simply, a sports sedan should have the dynamic properties of a sports car blended with the practicality of a four door sedan.

The 2011 BMW 335i sedan that we recently tested fits all of these criteria about as well as any car we've ever driven. The current generation 3 Series that debuted in 2005 was the first BMW to bring the latest cleaner version of the automaker's design language.

In typical BMW fashion the hood is long and the cabin is set well back on the body giving its profile a sporting and aggressive stance. That long hood also helps to accommodate the traditional BMW inline-six cylinder engine which we'll come back to in a bit.

Inside our tester was equipped with the Premium, Cold Weather and Sport packages as well as the navigation system. The front sport seats are supremely supportive when cornering and feature extendable thigh supports. The leather covered steering wheel has a perfect combination of thick rim and small overall diameter making it the ideal tiller for a sporting machine.

BMW currently offers three different 3.0-liter inline-six engines in the U.S.-market 3 Series (not including the V8 powered M3). The 335d uses BMW marvelous twin turbocharged diesel six which blends performance with excellent fuel economy. The BMW 328i has a normally aspirated gasoline engine while the BMW 335i has turbocharged version of that engine.

The N55 adopts BMW's fully variable valve timing and lift system called Valvetronic along with direct fuel injection. The new turbocharger is a dual-scroll unit with two inlets to the turbine housing that let the engineers better control when and where the exhaust gas pulses hit the turbine wheel. Our tester was paired up with a slick shifting six-speed manual gearbox that features short throws and a progressive easily actuated clutch pedal. The size of the wheel blends brilliantly with the amount of effort required to turn the wheel at just about any speed. The rear-wheel-drive layout of the standard 3 Series splits the workload between the front and rear tires allowing the fronts to handle directional control and the rears to propel the car.

Unlike that previous BMW 335i that we drove which had all-wheel-drive and felt distinctly heavier and less responsive, this car felt light on its feet and willing to be tossed into corners.
The optional sport package brings bigger wheels and tires and a firmer suspension setup. Despite the 3 Series compact footprint on the road, it is very densely packed, weighing in at nearly 3,600 pounds! The BMW 335i sedan starts at $40,600 and our test car came in at $51,325 very well equipped.

2011 BMW X3 Review

2011 BMW X3
2011 BMW X3 Review
BMW's X3 compact SUV . It's also bigger (3.4 inches longer and 1.1 inches wider), better looking, and more fuel-efficient. The trade-off: The engine in the xDrive28i has less oomph (20 horsepower less) than the only engine offered in the outgoing X3.

The new X3 xDrive35i is relatively expensive, with a starting price of $41,925. It comes with a powerful 3.0-liter, 300-horsepower, turbocharged six-banger engine, however, that matches or bests the top horsepower rating of any of the X3's main competitors.
The X5's other rivals offer only seven- or six-speed automatics.
The mileage rating is exactly the same for the xDrive35i, except that highway mileage rises to 26 mpg.

Among the X3's main rivals, only the four-cylinder-powered Audi Q5 2.0T, with an average mileage rating of 22, does better. The Volvo XC60's mileage rating matches the X3's, but its average drops to 20 mpg with AWD and 19 mpg with a turbocharged engine. The Audi Q5 3.2 is rated to get 20 mpg, and the Mercedes GLK350 is rated to average only 18 mpg, whether with rear-wheel drive or AWD.

The 2011 BMW X3 has higher fuel economy ratings, more standard features and more interior space than previous models, making it an all-around stronger contender.
For the 2011 model year, BMW has taken the luxury compact X3 back to the drawing board and returned with a SUV that the industry admires. “The original BMW X3 ‘Sport Activity Vehicle’ debuted in 2004, and was one of the pioneers of the luxury small crossover craze, influencing brands like Acura, Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz to follow in their footsteps. Here's the good news: That all changes with the 2011 BMW X3.

Other Compact SUVs to Consider
Instead it offers rear-wheel drive with an all-wheel drive option. The result, reviewers say, is that the EX is extremely fun to drive. Reviewers like the Q5’s car-like ride and handling, as well as its luxurious interior.

Details: BMW X3
All-wheel drive is standard on both trims. The 2011 model is bigger than the outgoing model, and has a new suspension and transmission, more passenger room and more cargo space.
The 2011 BMW X3 has been fully redesigned. Highlights include an optional turbocharged engine, a standard eight-speed automatic transmission, crisper exterior styling, revised suspension tuning and an updated interior design with the latest iDrive electronics interface.
Thankfully, BMW softened the suspension and upped the power in successive years. An optional adaptive suspension allows the driver to select from three different modes calibrating suspension, throttle, transmission and stability control settings.

The xDrive28i ostensibly replaces last year's xDrive30i, and offers slightly less power, but also a slimmer entry fee. Both models get a new eight-speed transmission, which rows through gears in a quiet fury to reach cruising speed. Overall, BMW's refinements make the X3 a prime contender in the small luxury crossover SUV segment.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2011 BMW X3 is a five-passenger compact luxury crossover SUV available in two trim levels: the xDrive28i and the xDrive35i.
Standard features on the 28i include 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, foglights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, eight-way power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette (premium vinyl) upholstery, automatic climate control, cruise control, Bluetooth, BMW's iDrive electronics interface and a 12-speaker audio system with a CD player, HD radio, an auxiliary audio jack and an iPod interface.

The Sport Activity package varies slightly for each model, but includes 18-inch wheels, sport front seats, roof rails and a sport transmission with paddle shifters. The Technology package offers a rearview camera with top view, front and rear parking sensors, Bluetooth streaming audio and a hard-drive-based navigation system with voice commands and real-time traffic. Opting for the Dynamic Handling package gets you adaptive suspension dampers, variable-ratio steering and three driver-selectable drive modes. A Cold Weather package adds heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel.

A 3.0-liter inline-6 engine powers both 2011 BMW X3 models. BMW estimates the x35i's fuel economy at 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway.
Standard safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, automatic brake drying (useful in rainy weather), front airbags, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, active front-seat head restraints, stability control, and hill descent control. In Edmunds testing, the xDrive35i stopped from 60 mph in a short 116 feet.

2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept

2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept
Just unveiled at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show is the 2011 BMW M5 concept. When the first-generation BMW M5 arrived in the U.S. in 1987, it essentially created a new class of high-performance sports sedan. The super sports cars sedan concept continued to evolve reaching the point where the last-generation M5 came with a Formula 1-inspired V-10 engine, but its clunky single-clutch paddle-shift gearbox and weighty chassis disappointed. Since then, others have upped their game and stolen the limelight. Not one to give up easily, BMW is poised to reign supreme once again in the world of blazingly quick 4-doors. A reign, might we add, that will allow for five full-sized adults to sit comfortably.
2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept
The BMW M5 was the first car of its kind to offer racing-oriented high performance in a sedan that could be driven without restrictions in everyday road traffic. This unique concept cars developed into a remarkable success story spanning four model generations. The BMW M GmbH is now drawing the attention of racing car enthusiasts to a four-seater yet again. The 2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept, which is making its public debut at the Auto Shanghai 2011, presents itself as the latest reinterpretation of this unmistakable vehicle character.
2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept
For 25 years now, the fascinating combination of supreme driving comfort experienced in a premium upper midrange sedan and the handling characteristics of a high-performance sports car has been described by one single unmistakable model designation – BMW M5. In 1984, with the first generation of this model, the BMW M GmbH laid the foundation stone for a completely new vehicle category.
A new high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology guarantees typical M power output. The eight-cylinder power unit delivers a spontaneous and even acceleration, which remains constant up to the highest load and is characteristic of the M feeling, in a previously unequalled dimension. At the same time, both performance and efficiency have been significantly increased in comparison to the previous engine. Numerous drivetrain innovations and other enhancements have lead to a reduction in fuel consumption and emission levels by more than 25 percent. The new engine and a seven-speed M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic and M-specific suspension and steering create the ideal prerequisites for an unrivalled driving experience.

The concept car visualises the unmistakable characteristics of a BMW M model, which mature from a harmonious overall concept in which engine, suspension and design complement each other perfectly. The BMW M GmbH's know-how gained from decades of experience and constantly further developed under racing conditions manifests itself in this combination. Innovative technology derived directly from motor racing provides each new BMW model with unmatched high-performing characteristics.
2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept
With powerfully modelled wheel arches and dynamically flowing lines, the 2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept also signalises uncompromising sportiness when viewed from the side. The long wheelbase, the set back passenger cabin and the black side window surrounds distinctively underscore the sedan's stretched silhouette. This appearance is even more strongly emphasised through M-specific lowering of the vehicle. The athletically flared wheel arches are complemented by M-specific light alloy wheels sporting a double-spoke design. Due to the vehicle's wide track, they are flush with the car body. The 20-inch forged rims are fitted with tyre size 265/35 ZR20 at the front and 265/35 ZR20 at the back.
2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept
The world premiere of the 2011 BMW Sports Cars Sedan M5 Concept at the Auto Shanghai 2011 gives clear signals for the continuation of this tradition. Based on the design vocabulary developed for the BMW 5-Series Sedan, the near-series concept car reflects the characteristic styling features of a BMW M automobile, with which the car’s further enhanced dynamic potential is authentically visualised.

BMW X3 xDrive20d Reviews

Features BMW X3 xDrive20d, the Business is not as complete or xDrive20d xDrive35i Executive: no glass roof and roof rails and. From behind the difference, a single exhaust tip, while gasoline two. Features also lose complete infotainment!

Engine
The sound engine is edikit harder than gasoline. So is the resonance. The difference is very noticeable when heard next to the engine room. However, when positioned in the interior and the door closed, the difference is small. Only vibrations that still can be felt clearly.

With common rail technology and piezoelectric injector, a 2.0-liter diesel engine capability is great. Easy start! Indeed, energy is not as fierce xDrive35i, but for diesel engines with 2.0 liter capacity, his ability was very okay (184PS)! In fact, not "fair" to compare with xDrive35i engine, 3.0 liter and turbo double. XDrive20d engine equipped only with a turbocharger!

Characteristics that are not less interesting than this diesel-engined BMW SUV, while behind the wheel and the car is started, the driver feels more unified (familiar) with the vehicle. Could be because the torque of the engine (diesel) was obtained at low rpm, ie 1750-2750 rpm, so the attraction you feel satisfied but not fierce. If the fierce energy, such as gasoline engine, the driver controls the vehicle concentration is higher.

As a result, when run at low speed or slow, very steady. Vehicle more easily controlled with ease! Hence, when stuck in a traffic jam, X3 diesel is more fun.

When boosted at high speeds on the highway, the diesel engine was demonstrated toughness X3. Able to be invited to race with a similar vehicle that uses a gasoline engine with a capacity slightly larger!

Start-Stop
Diesel version is also equipped with a Start-Stop. While this system works - the engine off - the driver can feel it immediately. When the engine died, there was considerable vibration compared with xDrive35i engine. Car body shook. Other indicators, steering wheel reacting, not working, weight driven. When the machine back to life, vibration also appears again!

Fuel Consumption
On the highway, accelerated at 150 km / hour, fuel consumption is 19.4 km / hr. But so is the traffic in the city fell to 17.4 km / liter. BMW claims an average of 17.9 km / liter. This proves, the BMW X3 is suitable as an operational vehicle or high mobility, especially for the jammed streets.

Conclusion
After trying both variants of the X3, for those who do not think too much about operating costs, mainly fuel and happy speeding, X3 xDrive35i is perfect. While considering efficiency (operational cost) and helps reduce pollution, the options are xDrive20d.

BMW Z4, Now Wear Engine 4 Cylinder 2.0 Liter

BMW Z4
Despite looking as a sports car, engine capacity reduction is not unlawful to do, especially when the issue of efficiency in the red-hot. That is what BMW on its flagship roadster, BMW Z4. From 6-cylinder engine, trimmed only 4 cylinders.

But do not jump to a new machine-coded underestimate this N20B20. Although only a capacity of 2.0 liter 4-cylinder (the previous 3.0-liter 6-cylinder), many benefits can be utilized latest BMW Z4, one of them is certainly a much lighter weight.

Especially when the material used is aluminum, the only light engine. So, do not be surprised if the old engine torque can exceed the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder. And of course, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine is much more economical fuel.

Like the 3,000 cc six-cylinder engine, this machine also incorporates highpressure direct-injection and Valvetronic intake control, so that it can produce power up to 245 hp at 5000 rpm and 350 NM of torque at 1250 rpm. While the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, only 310 Nm of torque.

High-pressure injector device up to 200 bar, the position adjacent to the spark plugs, also would make the intake of fuel so more quickly and completely. And asiknya, this latest BMW Z4 only need 1 liter of fuel for a distance of 12 km.

2011 BMW Alpina B7

BMW Alpina B7 A custom-stitched steering wheel connects the driver to the B7's soul. The BMW/Alpina relationship has evolved to produce high-vitality concoctions with utmost efficiency. Instead of modifying a standard car into a special, Alpina delivers its parts assortment to the 7-series plant in Dingolfing, Germany, for BMW to assemble. Nearly finished B7s - available in short and long wheelbases with rear- or all-wheel drive - are shipped to Alpina's Buchloe works for some final touches.

Alpina's bill of materials includes a heat-treated cylinder block, special cylinder heads, turbochargers with larger compressor wheels, and intercoolers with 50 percent greater heat-exchanging capacity. Exterior upgrades include front and rear spoilers, a small rear extractor, and appropriately hunky rolling stock.

Case in point: in twenty seven years of reviewing cars, I even have never before had the prospect to drive an Alpina tweaked BMW. conjointly accessible may be a monstrous V12, sensible for 512hp and pitiful fuel mileage. Best of all, the Alpina B7 is absolutely lined by BMW’s four year, 50,000 mile warranty, which has a full maintenance program. therefore what constitutes an Alpina upgrade? very little Alpina niceties abound. The steering wheel hub contains the regal Alpina crest that consists of a vertical crankshaft brand. Matching cloisonné center hubs determine the special Alpina turbine-design road wheels. The Alpina wasn’t only 1 of the fastest cars on the road, however conjointly one in all the fastest cars at Laguna Seca’s Media Days. 2011 BMW ALPINA B7 SWB

BMW first offered the Alpina B7 to US consumers for model years 2007 and 2008, based on the previous-generation 7-series sedan. The super-sedan returns for 2011, available in both short- and long-wheelbase versions of the current 7 Series sedan, and the option this time of adding BMW’s X-Drive AWD system.

Visually, the Alpina B7 is set apart from lesser 7 Series cars by tasteful styling modifications. The B7 wears 20-spoke, 21-inch Alpina Classic wheels (which are notable for the fact that the air valve is hidden under the wheel’s center cap). BMW’s M vehicles tend to be cars heavily focused on performance, with that performance prioritized above comfort. The car features a version of BMW’s electronically-adjustable suspension with Active Roll Stabilization. Selecting Sport and Sport+ changes the throttle mapping in the Alpina-programed ECU to a more aggressive program. Gears can be changed manually using the Alpina Switchtronic buttons on the steering wheel or nudging the gear selector frontward or backward.

Alpina replaces BMW’s standard instruments with blue-faced items with luminescent characters and orange needles; the characters illuminate white in the daytime, and orange at night. When wearing polarized sunglasses during the daytime, the head-up display disappears – a problem that BMW has had from time to time with its in-car LCD displays as well. The interior of the Alpina B7 sedan features Alpina blue illuminated door sill trims, a heated steering wheel, and an Alcantara headliner with charcoal leather trim on the A-, B-, and C-pillars. The dashboard, door panels, center console, and seats are upholsterd in matching, hand-stitched Lavalina leather with nicely-detailed stitching; and the headliner is upholstered in beautifully-stitched charcoal Alcantara.

When starting the car and buckling the seatbelt, the belt cinches up a bit, tugging over the shoulders of the driver and front seat passenger, then releasing again to allow normal movement. The rear seats are heated, and each outboard position has its own climate control zone. Despite the car’s big footprint and enormous wheels, the turning radius seems quite small.

On the road, stomping on the accelerator produces from a standstill produces a chirp from the rear tires (mitigated by the car’s stability control system), followed by the type of acceleration uncommon in nearly any passenger car. Alpina worked near magic in the B7’s suspension tuning. In oversteer situations, the big BMW responds predictably to throttle and steering inputs, like something much smaller. Alpina has also done a good job in tuning the B7’s stability/traction control. While the system doesn’t turn OFF, it has a “Traction Mode”, which allows controlled rear wheelspin and oversteer; this mode can be manually chosen, but it is selected automatically if you choose Sport+ setting for the adjustable suspension. The Alpina B7 tested was equipped with a rear view camera in addition to front and rear parking sonar, but not with BMW’s surround view camera system nor with the self-parking system I sampled on the BMW 535i.

2011 BMW X1 Reviews

2011 BMW X1
The BMW X1 will have several engine options, but BMW hasn’t said which variations will come to the United States. If the X1 gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged option, it will be a rare item for BMW because the base 1-Series and the base X3 have a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine.

Where does this engine slot the X1 in relation to BMW’s lineup and the competition? The X3, BMW’s smallest SUV, has a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produces 240 horsepower and gets 19/25 mpg city/highway. The Q5 is fitted with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 211 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The GLK has a larger engine: a 3.5-liter, 268 horsepower V6 engine. Edmunds agrees, saying, “The new BMW X1 has the potential to be the best-handling small luxury crossover on the market.”

The X1’s interior should fall in line with what the industry and shoppers expect from BMW. BMW hasn’t mentioned how much cargo space is available, but Edmunds says the X1 will have 14.7 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 47.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

Car shoppers looking for a fun-to-drive luxury vehicle that also boasts decent utility will have an all-new option early next year: the 2011 BMW X1 compact crossover. Also contributing to the X1's agile demeanor is its significantly lower overall height (and center of gravity) than most rival compact crossovers.

The price paid for the X1's trick combination of more maneuverable size and a reasonably accommodating rear seat is cargo space. This makes its official name the BMW X1 xDrive28i. That low-revving workhorse should also deliver impressive fuel economy.

BMW is an expert at filling niches that buyers probably never even thought existed. Witness vehicles such as the 5-series Gran Turismo, the upcoming Mini SUV, and the smallest member of the X family, the X1.

This new BMW baby ute is 175.4 inches long, 70.8 inches wide, and 60.8 inches high. That makes it 2.8 inches shorter than a 3-series wagon and 4.5 inches shorter than an X3. In everyday driving, the AWD system delivers 60 percent of the engine torque to the rear axle and 40 percent to the front, but the multidisc clutch pack is able to apportion torque to whichever axle needs it for traction.

Inside, the X1’s décor and layout mimic those of the 3-series. The cargo area varies between 15 cubic feet with the rear seats slid all the way back—there’s another 3 cubic feet available if they’re slid forward—to 48 cubic feet with the seats folded flat.
The X1 definitely wants to be the sports car in the compact-SUV segment.
